Elite’s Training Center began breaking and training colts in 2020. There are around 30 stalls dedicated to the Training Center inside the Elite’s Therapy Barn. These horses are Standardbreds for the sulky harness racing industry. They have had horses come from several states surrounding Indiana and even Canada. The time a horse stays at the Training Center will vary. Sometimes the horse is on the Therapy Barn side for a few weeks and then moves over to the Training Center for intensive rehabilitation to return to the track. The daily stall rate for the Training Center is $35. The main trainer on staff is Lavon Miller. He has been working with and training horses for 30 years. Training has been a passion for him for most of his life. It was a side gig for most of those years until the Elite Training Center began and it became his full time focus. In 2023, there was over 150 horses that moved through the barn for breaking or some form of training. From late fall until early spring are the busiest months for them. This is the time the breaking and training is preparing for the next racing season to begin.
